About Dr. Grieve

When you entrust your smile — or your child’s smile — to an orthodontist, you want the best. And you’ve come to the right place. Dr. W. Gray Grieve is the most experienced orthodontist in Lane County. He has been treating patients to board standards for over 20 years. By providing the highest-quality treatment using the latest and most comfortable technology in orthodontics, he continues to exceed the expectations of his patients and his peers.

Dr. Grieve is an accomplished dental and orthodontic health professional. He earned degrees in both Biology and Philosophy from the University of California, before pursuing General Dentistry at the University of California. Following dental school, Dr. Grieve earned a Post-Doctoral Orthodontic Fellowship from the University Of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Grieve continued his research in Oral Biology; resulting in a master’s degree. In 1991 he established his Eugene practice. Having lived in many large cities, he chose Eugene because of the university, proximity to the ocean and mountains, and overall livability. He and his wife, Denise, a University of Oregon graduate and dental hygienist, have built a home in Eugene, and are proud parents of William, 18 and Elizabeth, 15. They enjoy traveling as a family, swimming, hiking, camping, half-marathons, golf (He is the course record holder at Bandon Trails 66!), Lego bricks, scouting, and most outdoor activities of Lane County and the beautiful West Coast.

Dr. Grieve stays involved with his profession and the community. He organized Lane County Children’s Dental Health Month in the early 90’s, and has seen the program develop into the national “Give Kids a Smile Day.”

A passion for working with people has led Dr. Grieve to develop skills in all areas of orthodontic treatment and specialize in personalized care for each patient. His goal is to get to know the families that he works with, and provide as much information as possible to parents about the early development of their children.

At the same time, Dr. Grieve is recognized for being a leader in the treatment of adults. About 30 percent of his patients benefiting from treatment are over the age of 18. The latest step forward with technology is Invisalign and the new InvisalignTeen, and Dr. G was the first Elite provider of Invisalign in Oregon. Digital advances continue to improve these treatments, and Dr. Grieve has been ahead of the curve.

He is a well-renowned authority in the dental and orthodontic fields. Dr. Grieve has lectured nationally and internationally on the topics of oral health for adults, orthodontics for children, and orthodontics for adults. His commitment to continuing education, technology, and the ongoing improvements of procedures and his treatment facility allow him to continue to provide the absolute best and most conscientious treatment and obtain the finest results for children, adolescents and adults.

As a practicing orthodontist for over 20 years, Dr. G is well qualified to compare his treatment results and patient/family satisfaction and happiness with other practitioners in the area to make sure you’re receiving the most quality care.

He has been elected to all of the offices in the Lane County Dental Society, and currently serves as the president of the Oregon State Society of Orthodontists. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, The World Federation of Orthodontists, the Lane County Dental Society, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the Oregon State Society of Orthodontists, the Oregon Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. He has been board certified in both Oregon and California, and nationally, for over 20 years.

Dr. G has the honor of being listed in Who’s Who of Professionals Nationally, and he has published orthodontic and dental research in the Journal of Dental Research, as well as the American Journal of Orthodontics and Orthopedics — the orthodontic profession’s most respected journal. He’s even authored a helpful book titled “How To Choose An Orthodontist.” We think he’s a great choice.
